Off the Wall Strategies for Building a List - Quickly

Having a big list of contacts and potential customers is extremely important. You will have a large number of people to whom you can market products and services, and as long as they’re opted in, you won’t be accused of spam! Of course, you should still send them useful, free content regularly to keep them interested. The problem many would-be internet marketers have is building a list. How you can get people to voluntarily provide you with their email addresses?

Well, it’s not easy - especially since all of your competitors are doing it as well.

But, if you try these 7 strategies to get your website noticed, your list will practically build itself!

  1. First and foremost, you need to build trust. How can you get people to trust you? By offering them free things, of course! Look to see what types of free offers your competitors are giving out, and give out MORE! Are they giving out a free ebook? You can give out two. Where can you find ebooks to give away? Find some informational products with free resale rights. Of course, nothing can beat writing your own ebooks. Just make sure you have a right to give them away.
  2. Offer a free gift certificate for every 100th subscriber. Encourage people to join by giving them a chance to win a neat prize. You’ll be surprised at how effective this is. Your site will even get listed in sweepstakes and contests directories! People will do just about anything to win on the internet.
  3. First impressions always count. Make sure your landing page is very well put together and neat. Have some quality content right there for visitors to see as soon as they get to your site. Also, your site should have easy navigation and an attractive layout. Don’t use the same free templates that everyone else is using. Have one made just for your site.
  4. Use Facebook and Twitter. Have the URL connection on your profile page. Whenever you update your site or blog, sent out a Tweet about it. Have the subscription offer on every page to ensure that every visitor sees it. Now, since this is something that many people are doing, you really need to up your game and make your social networking posts (including the titles) as creative as possible.
  5. Offer visitors to your site a game to play if they provide you with their emails. Show screencaps of the game as a sort of preview. The screencaps should show action in the game so that visitors can get an idea of how fun it is to play.
  6. See if you can have your articles published in other newsletters or ezines. Other list owners might be willing to share your site with their readers if they like your articles. For this reason, you should be as innovative as possible with your content. Write about things that nobody has ever read before. Be unique and creative, and don’t just rehash the same content over and over again.
  7. Have a list of “reasons why you should join my newsletter” on the signup page. Show right there, on the screen, the benefits they will receive if they opt-in to your list. You may even want to show a video of all the features they can expect from your company. Make sure you use the word “free” a lot! That will really grab people’s attention.

Follow these seven strategies for building a list. Also, be consistent with your newsletters. After you get subscribers, you will want to keep them, so make your emails stand out just as much as your site!
