Build A Squeeze Page

Whilst not actually vital to building your list a squeeze page can be used to greatly increase the rate that people sign up to your list. They work primarily because they are so simple, yet they can be daunting if you have not built one before.

What is a squeeze page? Well to be honest I would be stunned if you have landed on one before. They are the prime way to building your list up, regardless of what niche your business is in. They consist of several very simple but key elements. In fact some of the best squeeze pages are extremely simple.

The squeeze page needs the following elements:

A very short message or video to get across the point as to why someone should sign up to your list. If you are going to use video to get your message across, keep it short and sweet, and certainly no longer than 90 seconds in length, otherwise you will lose peoples attention. Also do not make the mistake that so many people do, and that is to set the video to autoplay! This is the most annoying thing a video squeeze page can do. Just remember someone may well be sat at work when they open up the link, and in an open plan office this can be highly embarrassing and frowned upon your fellow workers.

If you are using text to get your message across, keep it to six bullet points, and in both cases never ever have anything “Below the fold” e.g. You want them to see the whole message without having to scroll down (This is a vital point).

You then need your “Offer”. This can be anything from giving away a short report in return for them signing up to your list, or giving away free software, but to maximise sign ups you need to make the “Offer” really good value (and always free to download!). The better your free give away is the more people will sign up.

The “Call to Action” - Tell them why they need to sign up and how to do so. State the action you want them to take.

The e-mail and name capture, otherwise known as an autoresponder. Ideally this box needs to be sat on the top right of the squeeze page. This is the best location for it as people read from left to right.
