Finding People for Your List

One of the magical questions most internet marketers have is, “Who is going to buy my product or service and where do I find them?” The answer to that question is an ongoing process in order to stay profitable in business. The simple answer is to do market research. As the answer is simple the process can either be a difficult task or a challenge that can be adventurous. For this discussion, we will assume that it is going to be an adventure and the roll which will be played is that of a detective as you are going to compile information on your perfect customer.

In doing research on your customer, you should think of them as your avatar (your avatar is your perfect customer). Again, think who, what, and where is your perfect avatar? When doing that, you need to make a profile of their core beliefs and motivations. Dig deep and find out what is the answer to their pain (what they want or need) whether it is a product, service, or business opportunity. Remember, this is a business of selling solutions.

One way to get information about your avatar is to do a Google search. This will bring up information about the various products that are being used and more importantly how many people are searching for that information. Take good notes on how your offer is being sold, and discover the key phrases, words and description that are being used repeatedly.

On the left hand side of your search page you will find a list of information that will enable you to further gain more ways to connect with your avatar. You can join forums, discussion groups as well as blogs. Once you join a group, read through past posts and engage yourself in conversation as this will be invaluable in your quest for research.

Once you have satisfied your customer’s profile, it is time to review the different ways in which you can get people to request information about your offer and give you their name and email so you can start to build your list. The ways to capture information can be endless and only limited to your imagination. Some of the more popular techniques that are utilized are pay per click ads where you create an ad associated with a certain key word that people search for and if your ad is compelling enough, people will give you their contact information in exchange for what is promised in the ad. Article writing is another way to get people to notice your offer. At the end of the article, you will give out the web address so they can review your product or service. These are two of many ways to build your list and each one is worthy of their own article.
