Why A Building a List Matters in Internet Marketing

You don’t really notice it when you aren’t knowledgeable in internet marketing, but lists tend to be an essential part of any professional marketers skill set.

I didn’t get what the importance of a list was until I noticed I had subscribed to so many other marketers lists and took notice of what they were sending me.

They would build a relationship with me, showing their authority in their subject then occasionally send a referral product that I might enjoy. When I realized what they were doing and the marketing technique I had been a part of I was happily shocked.

As long as a list if relevant to the products or advice you are delivering, you should have little problem creating a clean relationship with your subscribers.

Even if you start small with just a handful of people, there are hundreds of marketing techniques to safely and securely acquire more sign ups.

I did not employ the wonders of building a list and nursing its growth until recently. You certainly don’t require a list of subscribers to be profitable online, but it definitely puts your profits on a whole different level once you do.

My earliest figures from testing showed that I had replicated one month of performance of my SEO traffic powered site with about six highly timed emails to my list. In other words with just about two sell emails, I had six emails altogether, I had the same profit as one month of SEO traffic to my site.

This is my first and earliest attempt at a list, but a successful attempt at that. I am far more focused on SEO work than my list at the moment but only because I prefer my sites to be SEO traffic oriented rather than anything else. Just personal preference, nothing more.

Some people swear by building lists in any niche since it is such a powerful tool. I agree with its power but disagree that it should be the only focus of a marketer.

Highly successful marketers employ several strategies for traffic. List building should be a compliment to the system you currently use, but it should not replace it.
