List Building Mistakes - Are These 3 Deadly Errors Keeping You From Internet Marketing Success?Do you have a list? You know you need one, so if yours is too small or non-existent, it’s time you start working on growing your list — or building it from scratch. Read on to make sure you don’t make these three deadly mistakes.are you making these three deadly list building mistakes? 1) You get your list from the wrong source Some people think they can buy their lists. It sounds like a good idea at first, but unfortunately, it rarely quite works that way. For one, you’re setting yourself up for spam complaints. And secondly, if you buy a list — even if you could otherwise get away with it, you probably paid good money for a whole lot of people who are just not that interested in what you have to offer. Or worse — you’ve got a whole lot of throw-away email addresses and your emails won’t ever even get opened. Talk about demoralizing — if you’ve got a list of 10,000 people and you get maybe two takers — when you offer a free gift! 2) You don’t give them what they want Let’s say you actually have a list that occasionally reads your emails. That list could quickly become a list filled with unsubscribes if you don’t give them what they want. If they’ve signed up to get tips on blogging, and you’ll send them one make-money-with-surveys offer after another, they won’t be very happy. You’ll actually be lucky if they unsubscribe. They could also complain. So think about what they want. If they want tips on blogging, by all means, send them tips on blogging. And every once in a while, or even every time at the bottom of your email, let them know about your fabulous blogging product — or a blogging product created by a friend. 3) You mail too often — or not often enough Just how often should you mail to your list? Opinions vary from once a day to once a week or even less often. The idea is that you want to mail them often enough so they’ll remember you, yet not so often that they consider you a pain in the inbox. So how often is good. It depends on what you’ll send them. If you send them valuable information, you’ll find that they won’t mind hearing from you fairly often. In fact, you may become their new best friend. On the other hand, if you don’t mail them at least once a week or so, they may forget who you are. Still more is not better. Don’t mail them more than once a day, or even every day, unless there’s a good reason — good for them! As you can see, the key to growing a list is building relationships. And at the core of building relationships online is having a WordPress blog, which will also help you get many more subscribers. Don’t have one yet?
