How To Build Your Email Lead List Using Twitter

To grow your affiliate and internet marketing business you need to build a prospect list from day one. This is an email lead list of subscribers to your initially free download offer which gives you the opportunity to stay in touch, build rapport, and educate your prospects to become clients of your business. This is the ultimate soft sell approach and it will work for you!

When I first started marketing with my own blog online, I was a little despondent (to say the least) that I had hardly any visitors to my blog! How could I encourage interested potential buyers to visit my site, without me paying hundreds of dollars I could not afford on advertising, which would have no guaranteed result?

I figured if I could get free targeted traffic to my blog, then any sales made would clearly be a bonus!

So I set about researching how to gain quality free targeted traffic and drive my visitor volume through the roof! I tried to discover what successful internet marketers had done in my situation to grow their email lead list. I discovered that you can both have an email optin box on your website homepage and set alone on a purpose built squeeze page. Both can be good for building your email lead list of potential buyers.

I copied the best designs of successful marketers and soon had my optin box ready, linking to an email autoresponder so the email sequence is all taken care of automatically in our busy twenty four hour business world! I set up a free ebook download with useful targeted information to attract the maximum number of subscribers to my mailing list.

Then I posted some good relevant niche content to my blog and did some social bookmarking to promote that. But what I really wanted next was some free targeted traffic direct to my optin box so I could begin collecting the email addresses of interested prospects.

What I actually did was to create a Twitter account with a similar name to my blog. I followed around two hundred people daily until I reached aout eighteen hundred following and slowly unfollowed those who were not following me back, allowing them a week to respond. Gradually people started following me through hashtags. I tweeted between five and twelve times daily and generally added at least one hashtag to my tweet. Here is an example tweet.

“Build your visitor numbers by posting quality content on your #blog”

Now anyone searching the hashtag #blog will find my tweet in the list and possibly click through to my twitter account. They may choose to follow me. The hashtag sends your tweet to a list outside of your twitter page which easily allows other users to locate you. Sometimes people retweet me and this also sends my tweet, and therefore access to my twitter page, to an ever larger audience.

I would tweet quality tips and quotes throughout each day and only add your blog URL or link to your squeeze page about two days a week. On those two days I repeatedly link to my optin box. Later I delete some of the tweets with links so my Twitter feed looks cleaner to anyone visiting my page.

Everything is very public on Twitter. So word your tweets carefully to attract the followers you want and set the scene for your marketing. Remember, the number of followers you have on Twitter in no way reflects the number of people who optin to your email lead list, but the aim is to encourage those following you on Twitter to get to know more about you via your contact form. Offering relevant free downloadable information, whether reports, audio, video or software has high potential to bring your followers along to your contact form! It works best if you have exciting new offers from week to week on different squeeze pages.

This may not be the quickest method to build your mailing list but it is free, and it is highly targeted if you choose your words carefully. Again, a subscriber to your free information mailings is not the same as a buyer, but they are much more likely to become a buyer in time, than cold calling or randomly sending people through affiliate sales page links. I wish you every success with Twitter!
